Entries for Blas na hÉireann 2026 opened on 17th March, offering food and drink producers across the island of Ireland a unique opportunity to benchmark their products through the country’s most comprehensive blind tasting competition.

Producers can access the 2026 Blas Entry Form via the Blas na hÉireann website here.

About the Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards

Blas na hÉireann is the largest blind-tasted food awards on the island of Ireland. Each year thousands of products are assessed through a rigorous judging process, designed in partnership with the Food Science Department at University College Cork. This methodology is recognised internationally as a gold standard for sensory evaluation.

More than 150 categories are available, covering Breads and Cakes, Ready Meals, Meat and Dairy, Seafood, Sweet and Savoury Pantry, and Drinks among many others.

How the judging process works

Judging takes place during June and July. Scores are benchmarked against strict criteria to ensure fairness and consistency. Finalists, typically the top five entries per category, are notified in mid August. In cases where scoring is exceptionally close, more than five finalists may be recognised.

Award winners, including Gold, Silver and Bronze placements, along with special awards such as Best in County, Best in Province, Best Artisan Producer and partner-sponsored awards, are announced on 2 October during the annual awards event in Dingle, Co Kerry. The coveted Supreme Champion title is also presented on the day.

The celebration forms part of Blas Village, a four-day programme including networking, a producer showcase and the Eat Ireland in a Day event, running from 1–4 October.

Full details on the judging and entry process can be found on the official Irish Food Awards website: https://www.irishfoodawards.com/blas-2026/

Why enter the Awards?

Blas na hÉireann accreditation remains one of the most trusted marks for shoppers seeking high-quality Irish food and drink. Research consistently shows that carrying a Blas finalist or winner badge influences purchasing decisions and builds consumer confidence.

Previous surveys of Blas winners show measurable commercial impact, with the majority reporting increased sales after displaying the award badge on pack. Many brands have credited Blas na hÉireann with helping open new retail listings, strengthen market visibility and support long-term brand growth.

Finalists also benefit from increased media exposure and promotional opportunities ahead of the awards weekend.
